How to measure your PD
Pupillary distance (PD) is the distance measured in millimeters between the centers of the pupils of the eyes. This measurement is different from person to person and also depends on whether they are looking at near objects or far away. It helps to ensure that the lenses will be located in the optimum position. For progressive and bifocal lenses, this value is even more precise and it is split into two figures representing your left and right eye. This is known as monocular PD.

Send us a picture, and we will measure your PD
If you are still unsure, you can send us a picture, and we will return with our best estimate. All we need in the picture is you holding a credit card-sized plastic or paper over your mouth as demonstrated in the following image.
Note: make sure the card is touching your face. You may also want to obscure any confidential information before sending.
Doing so will enable us to use the card as a scale and calculate your pupillary distance. If you require a precise measurement, we encourage you to seek an optometrist.
Notes:
- The pupillary distance measurement is accurate with insignificant margins of error. Follow the above instructions to measure your own PD at home. Repeat these steps at least 3 times to get an accurate and consistßent measurement. For instance, for powers higher than 2.75 Diopter, PD tolerance is usually less than or equal to 2.0 mm.
- You are highly encouraged to have an annual, comprehensive and dilated eye examination in order to receive precise prescription measurements, including your PD information. Simply send us your latest prescription when purchasing glasses online.
